Fishing
The Kenmore Hotel is fortunate enough to be located on the banks of River Tay, and controls fishing rights to two and a half miles of both banks of the river. Hotel residents are afforded preferential rates. Fishing is popular and therefore should be booked in advance at the time of making a room reservation.

The Hotel has a long history of fishing as the many photographs and memorabillia in the Boars Head bar show.

The official opening and closing of the salmon season for the River Tay takes place in the village with the Kenmore Hotel as host. The ceremony starts in the square with a gathering of many hundreds of anglers. Many famous anglers such as Paul Young, Rob Wainright and Ian Botham have joined the event. A Pipe band leads the crowd down to the river bank, where a boat is blessed with some good Highland whisky. A few complimentary drams always make the morning go with a swing.

The first fisherman to catch (and since 2001 release) a salmon is rewarded with a trophy and a gallon of scotch whisky. In 1999 the lucky person was Mr. Harry Camp who caught a fish of a lifetime. It weighted in at 27.5lb. In 2000 it Jim Mundells turn. was In the evening the hotel is the host of a gala ball, where Scottish Haggis is served by tradition. A picture series from this day is available under "pictures" in the menu.

A website called fishingnet.com is a wonderful resource about fishing in the area. It contains good pictures and information about fishing news, permits, weather, accomodations, tips and tricks.

In addition to the many salmon and trout fishing beats a number of local still waters offer sport for rainbow trout and Loch Tay is just accross the road! Boats can be hired locally.
