Kenmore's 65th salmon Opening
Kenmore Hotel hosted the 65th Salmon Opening on Monday 16th January 2012.
The ceremony commenced at 9:25am with the Vale of Atholl Junior Pipe band leading the 100 strong precession through the Square down to the river bank where the director of the hotel, Malcolm Flinn, opened the season by emptying a quaich of whisky over the first boat out and wishing Tight Lines 2012. Lee Conway who was last years winner took the first official cast.
Gerard McAuley was this years first catch with an impressive 18 pounder at just three minutes past 10:00am
The evening was completed with a Gala dinner and Charity Auction in support of the following charities.
- CHAS - Childrens Hospice Association Scotland
- AFYD - Angling For Youth Development
- Nicola Murray Foundation
The final figure that was raised at the auction and from donations received is:
£80,000
