Castle Menzies is an excellent example of a 16th Century Scottish castle. Set in a superb strategic location that castle was a prime location for much of the turbulent Scottish clan history and has had some notable guests including Bonnie Prince Charlie and the Duke of Cumberland. Although left as a ruin, the Menzies Clan Society has faithfully restored the castle with meticulous detail to showcase what it would have been like.
Visitors to the castle can now see the shot holes, stones walls, the Old Kirk of Weem and the Walled Garden. One of the benefits of Castle Menzies is that you are free to roam every room of the castle and the grounds with no restrictions so that you can enjoy the sights and fascinating history and architecture at your leisure.
